Don Friesen is the Founder of Prairie Ridge Solutions and a lifelong Nebraskan, born and raised in the small town of Aurora in central Nebraska. Often joking that he’s a graduate of the “Hard School of Life,” Don built his knowledge through real-world experience, business ownership, and hands-on work.
He brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry, overseeing up to 11 locations and earning the distinction of District Manager of the Year twice. As a former business owner, he understands firsthand the challenges of running operations and protecting what individuals and business owners have worked hard to build.
Don’s approach starts with listening. He focuses on understanding each client’s goals and concerns, emphasizing guidance and education rather than pushing products. Through Prairie Ridge Solutions, Don works with families, individuals, and business owners on health insurance, life insurance, annuities, and estate planning, including trust funds. His goal is to simply help clients protect their families, plan for retirement, and make confident decisions about their future.
He lives in Grand Island, Nebraska, with his wife of 20 years. Together they share a blended family of four children, 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. After experiencing significant family loss, including the passing of a stepchild in a car accident and a grandchild to cancer, Don’s belief in planning, protection, and cherishing what matters most has only deepened.
Outside of work, Don enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and exploring. He is a self-described tech enthusiast who enjoys building computers and learning about new technology.
